Project Description: This comprehensive sustainable retrofit project for Kildare County Council transformed the Demo Smart House at Meadowbrook to achieve A1 energy rating through extensive energy upgrade works. The project included safe asbestos removal of existing ceilings, complete strip-out of internal plasterboard walls and partitions, existing heating and electrical systems. New installations comprised complete rewiring with modern fixtures and fittings, heat pump system, EV charger, solar panels, triple glazed windows, and air tightness measures. The scope encompassed new bathroom and kitchen fitout, stairlift installation, and comprehensive internal and external decoration. External works included boundary wall reinstatement, footpath removal and raising with external paving to threshold level, rainwater collection system with pond installation, and new cobblelock driveway with sustainable drainage solutions, delivering a model demonstration of sustainable residential retrofitting.
