Iarnrod Eireann Heuston Station Roof
Project Description:This essential roofing upgrade project at Heuston Station involved the replacement of a 25-year-old flat roof over the station’s main passenger concourse, which had become a persistent source of water ingress. Given the station’s status as a critical transport hub and its heritage significance, the works were carefully planned and executed in a live, operational environment. A scaffold access tower was erected on Heuston Station Road, and a fully encapsulated, shrink-wrapped roof enclosure was designed and installed to prevent further water ingress during construction. Works were carried out on both day and night shifts to minimise disruption to the station’s commercial tenants and passengers. The existing roof coverings were removed and safely disposed of, with a new high-performance Sika Sarnafil PVC roofing system installed, including all necessary flashings, in full compliance with heritage conservation requirements.
