Ballina Bus Station Roof Works
Conneally Group was appointed as Works Contractor and PSCS by Bus Éireann to carry out extensive roof refurbishment works at Ballina Bus Station, following significant deterioration and water ingress. The project was delivered in two phases while ensuring the station remained fully operational throughout, with no disruption to bus movements or parking.
Phase 1 involved the careful strip-out and disposal of ridge tiles, slates, battens, felt, lead valleys, lead boards, gutters, downpipes, fascia, and soffits. A new breathable roof membrane was then installed along with new battens, slates, and a ventilated copper ridge system. Lead flashings around the chimney, flat roof, and roof windows were also inspected and either repaired or replaced as required.
Phase 2 focused on internal upgrades, including the removal of redundant water storage tanks and the installation of new insulation to remaining tanks, attic hatches, and attic spaces.
Through this project, Conneally Group enhanced the long-term durability and performance of the roof, improving energy efficiency while safeguarding the station’s operations and ensuring a safe, modern facility for staff and passengers alike.
