This sustainable retrofit project, delivered for Kildare County Council, transformed the Meadowbrook Demo Smart House into a model of energy efficiency, achieving an A1 energy rating through extensive upgrade works. The programme included the safe removal of asbestos, a full strip-out of internal partitions, ceilings, heating, and electrical systems, followed by the installation of advanced sustainable technologies.

Key upgrades comprised a complete electrical rewire with modern fixtures, a heat pump system, EV charging point, solar panels, triple-glazed windows, and comprehensive air-tightness measures. The works also incorporated a full kitchen and bathroom fit-out, stairlift installation, and complete internal and external redecoration.

Externally, the project involved reinstatement of boundary walls, redesigned footpaths and paving to threshold level, rainwater harvesting with pond installation, and a new cobble lock driveway with sustainable drainage solutions. Together, these enhancements showcase a benchmark in sustainable residential retrofitting and set a standard for future community developments.
